After several homes falling through, I made the decision to keep DJ here at Aurum a litter longer. DJ has the softest face and simply the sweetest boy there is. Looking forward to getting this guy in the ring this summer!

Achievements:

DJ continues to impress! Our first time ever attending Heart Of Michigan English Cocker Spaniel Club independent specialties, DJ goes Reserve Winners dog under breeder judge Bonnie Threlfall(Edgewood ECS)! And just when I think things couldn’t get any better…DJ goes BEST IN SWEEPSTAKES under breeder judge Karen Griswa(Ainsley ECS) and the later that day Winners Dog/Best of Winners/Best Bred By/Best Puppy under breeder judge Suzanne Dillin(Brazos River ECS)! I’m still beyond words after this weekend!

DJ is just starting his show career and is doing it with a BANG!

DJ’s first weekend out in Houston Texas July 2023, only his second time in the ring, he goes Reserve Winners Dog to a 4pt major under esteemed Judge Pat Trotter!

DJ jumpstarts his  second weekend out in Greenville 2023, just 1 week since Houston, by going Reserve Winners Dog to a 5pt major under Breeder Judge Karen Whitfield at the Seaboard English Cocker Spaniel Club Supported Entry!  That Sunday DJ out does himself by going Winners Dog/Best of Winner/Best of Breed Owner Handled for his first 5pt major – from the the Bred By Exhibitor class! – under Judge Harry “Butch” Schulman. And just to make it extra memorable, DJ pulled off an Owner Handled Group 1 in a large group of top notch dogs! Stunned is an understatement!

2024 was my first time attending the Heart of Michigan English Cocker Spaniel Club in Howell, MI and it surely not be the last! The show site was stunning and the hospitality and sportsmanship was top notch! DJ also made a weekend that won’t be soon forgotten. Saturday, under Breeder Judge Bonnie Threlfall, DJ goes Reserve Winners Dog from the Bred By Puppy class behind the Winners Dog/Best of Winners from the 2023 ECSCA National Specialty. Then on Sunday DJ goes Best In Sweepstakes under Breeder Judge Karen Griswa and then on to Winners Dog/Best of Winners/Best Bred By/Best Puppy under Breeder Judge Suzanne Dillin for his 2nd 5pt major!

After taking several months off due to school and whelping a litter of puppies (half siblinigs to DJ, Elvira, and Annie), we headed down to Florida to attend the Sunshine State English Cocker Spaniel’ 2nd annual specialty show. We missed entries for Sweepstakes but made our entries in for the specialty. DJ finished his championship, at just over 15 months, with another 5pt major, going Winners Dog/Best of Winners/Best Bred By under sporting dog specialist Judge Peggy Beisel McIlwaine. DJ is my 2nd Bred By to finish with 3 5pt majors – his mother Kira was the first!

DJ has already taken me on an adventure beyond any of my expectations and can’t wait to see what we accomplish together!
